Stephanie Spann from UCSD informed us of the UCSD – OSHA Training Institute programs that are available for safety professionals.

Mr. Dan Leiner, M.S., REHS, RSSP is the Area Manager for Cal/OSHA Consultation Services with over 25 years experience as a Public Health Sanitarian, and Industrial Hygientist. Mr. Leiner is a Professional Member and a Chapter Past President and is the Chapter Treasurer. Mr. Leiner is a Trainer with the OSHA Training Institute at the University of California, San Diego specializing on varied subjects in health & safety. Mr. Leiner will provide the knowledge, practical skills and tools to build an effective Heat Illness Program and comply with the newly updated Title 8, 3995 standards.

Mark Pisani, Senior Safety Engineer with Cal/OSHA’s Enforcement Branch and a CSSSP Past President, covered Cal/OSHA’s most frequently cited regulation.  He, along with Chapter President, Dan Leiner, answered any Cal/OSHA-related questions we had.  Together, Mr. Pisani and Mr. Leiner have over 50 years of Cal/OSHA experience.  Now is your opportunity to ask anything you’ve ever wanted to know about Cal/OSHA!

Mr. Mike Zimmer, President and Owner of 1Stop Environmental Compliance Consulting Services covered waste management issues and the new storm water general industrial permit requirements that became effective on July 1, 2015.  Mr. Zimmer has many years in the environmental service industry with fifteen years with Systech Environmental Corp as their Western Regional Sales Manager which operated a Waste Derived Fuel program in California at a local cement kiln.  He is a Board Member with the California Waste Association since 1984 and has served as President of the association at various times over the years.

Dr. John A. O’Toole, Ph.D, RSSP,  addressed Behavior Based Safety and discussed the benefits of establishing behavior based systems and the basic principles of how to motivate employees safe behavior in the workplace. He explained what is behavior based safety both the pros and cons.
