CSSSP is proud to present outstanding speakers at our bi-monthly meeting.  These presentations help educate our members and keep them current in their profession.

February 2010
Mr. Charles Hunt, Director of Environmental & Occupational Health & Safety and Safety & Security Certificate Programs at CSUDH, Extended Education discussed about the new direction and additions that will be made to the HEX Certificate programs in 2010 at CSUDH.

April 2010
Mr. Patrick Moffitt is the Senior Environmental Industrial Hygienist with Environmental Management & Engineering, Inc.  He addressed the Indoor air quality issues in our home and workplace. In the past 10 years, indoor air quality regulations have changed significantly in some areas, while in others they have not changed at all even though the regulations are still in place.
Ms. Letty Rodriguez, Director of Academic Programs, College of Continuing & Professional Education at CSULB reviewed courses that will be available in their Certificate Programs in Health & Safety.
Ms. Cass Ben-Levi, Director of Continuing Education and outreach, Southern California NIOSH Education and Research Center at UCLA presented the schedule of courses in Safety & Security that will be offered.

June 2010
Mr. Tom Davis of T. Davis & Associates spoke on “How to Conduct an Investigation”. He discussed about the investigative process, beginning with the initial notification of an incident. Topics will include conducting effective interviews with reporting parties, witnesses, and suspects.
Tom Davis obtained a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Cal State University Fullerton. His career spanned twenty-nine years in law enforcement before retiring as a Captain in charge of over 400 personnel in the South Orange County Division of the Sheriff’s Department.

August 2010
Mr. Jess Rodriquez spoke on: “Overview of Intelligence Communications.” Mr. Rodriquez graduated with a Juris Doctorate Degree and received a Bachelor’s degree in Public Management.  Mr. Rodriquez also received training in and taught National Clandestine subject for officers.  He has also served as a CIA Agent working overseas specializing in counter-terrorism.  He retired from the Los Angeles Police Department as a Captain.  At LAPD he specialized in Law Enforcement Intelligence.

Mr. Mark Pisani our President Elect spoke on the Procedures Used in Appealing a Cal/OSHA Citation.

December 2010
Mr. Hal Lindsey, Safety Manager of Asplundh Construction Corporation spoke on Accident Investigation Procedures that need to be immediately taken prior to a Cal/OSHA investigation and what procedures such as evidence preservation, product liability issues and the implementation of the Employee Independent Act as a defense against Cal/OSHA citations.
