2000 Program

CSSSP is proud to present outstanding speakers at our bi-monthly meetings.  These presentations help educate our members and keep them current in their profession.

February 2000
Hurschell Don Christian, JD, RSSSP, is in private practice in the Covina area for over 20 years.  Mr. Christian currently teaches at CSUDH in the Occupational Health & Safety Certificate Program.  Mr. Christian reviewed the new legislation of Assembly Bill 1127 which made changes to the State Labor Code.

April 2000
Mr. Chuck Labrow, Director of Corporate Security at Universal Studios discussed the “behind the scenes” look at how Security, Health & Safety and Disaster planning programs are managed at Universal Studios.  The studios is a full time motion picture studio, theme park and shopping multiplex – all on the same property.

June 2000
No speaker – installment of new officers.

August 2000
Dr. John Celentano is the Disaster Medical Officer for the Emergency Medical Services Agency of Los Angeles County.  He discussed about terrorism in the workplace, which included how to deal with Anthrax bomb threat.
Dr. Celentano received his Doctorate of Medicine from USC.  He is licensed as both a physician and surgeon in California and New York.  He is presently a Lt. Col. In the US Army Medical Corps.

October 2000
Mr. Gene McCarthy is a consultant with the FBI.  His role is the Assistant Coordinator for the hazardous Materials Response Team and liaison to the public safety community.  His career spans with him working with Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department as a fire fighter/paramedic and finally Acting Director of the Emergency Medical Services section.
